SHEMA — Strengthening Humanity through Empowerment, Mentorship, and Advocacy, is a humanitarian non-profit and non-political organization committed to transforming the lives of widows, orphans, and marginalized communities across Nigeria and the Lake Chad Basin region.
Founded on the conviction that every human being deserves dignity, safety, and opportunity, SHEMA operates with both compassion and strategic intent — delivering direct service, skills development, psychosocial support, mentorship, advocacy, and community mobilization across northeast Nigeria.

Trauma Recovery & Psychosocial Support
Structured counseling, case management, and restorative mentorship for survivors of armed conflict, gender-based violence, loss, and displacement. SHEMA collaborates with qualified mental health practitioners to deliver evidence-informed psychosocial interventions aligned with IASC guidelines.
Humanitarian Assistance & Emergency Response
Timely delivery of life-saving relief — including food assistance, non-food items (NFIs), and emergency support — to crisis-affected households and communities. All distributions are designed to address acute need while safeguarding long-term beneficiary dignity and agency.
Livelihoods & Economic Empowerment
Provision of vocational skills training, income-generating activity (IGA) support, and entrepreneurship development — enabling individuals to achieve financial independence, reduce economic vulnerability, and break cycles of poverty.
Education, Capacity Development & Civic Engagement
